Who we are

We started in the mandi, and we never really left

Verdura Epicure opened as a two-desk procurement office in a pulse-milling town. The volumes have changed since; the habit has not — somebody from this company still stands at arrival, cuts the sample, and walks away from a lot that does not read right.

Today we are a sourcing, trading and export house for importers, processors and retail brands — and we still buy every lot ourselves, with no agent in between.

What drives us

Three commitments we are willing to be judged on

They are not slogans. Each one costs us something, which is precisely why they hold.

01

Our purpose

To put the real crop in front of the buyer — the grade that actually came off the field this season, described in numbers, priced at what origin costs. Anything else is a story with a container attached.

02

Where we are going

To be the desk an importer calls first in a difficult season — not because we are cheapest that week, but because our read on the crop has been right often enough to plan around.

03

How we behave

We quote what we can deliver, we say so early when we cannot, and we carry the cost of our own mistakes. A short conversation in March saves a claim in August.

How we work

From growing block to your warehouse door

Five stages, each with a person accountable for it. You get a named contact at every one.

1

Origin selection

We map the season, shortlist belts by crop behaviour, and open sample lines with mills we have worked with before.

2

Sampling & approval

Pre-shipment samples travel to you with a full analysis sheet. Nothing is booked until the grade is signed off.

3

Cleaning & grading

Destoning, gravity separation, sortex colour sorting and metal detection, then moisture correction to contract.

4

Packing & stuffing

Food-grade jute, PP or laminated packs, palletised or floor-loaded, stuffed under supervision with photographic record.

5

Documents & sailing

Phytosanitary, certificate of origin, fumigation and insurance issued ahead of vessel cut-off, with live tracking to discharge.
